Miss Alabama Pageant Participants Give Back & Inspire Young Women
In 2009, the competition awarded over $100,000 in cash college scholarships to its participants. Along with the college scholarships awarded, the Miss Alabama Pageant has a greater mission that reaches far beyond the runway for young women like Brittany Finley, who is Miss Metro Montgomery.
While the festivities will be a exciting event for those who attend as well as for the contestants, there is much more than beauty and talent that make all of these women shine. These young women are a inspiration to their communities, and given an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for their charities. Each Miss Alabama Pageant participant has a chance to make a difference in their communities, and to build the self-confidence and commitment needed to succeed in the future.
The Wright Center on the campus of Samford University will be a exciting place to be when the 2010 Miss Alabama Pageant takes place on June 9 12 in Birmingham. It will be a chance to embrace someone's dream of becoming the next Miss Alabama. As Liz Cochran of Helena, Miss Alabama 2009 relinquishes her crown she will continue her fight against Cardiovascular Disease, which is a silent killer. Liz has written a childrenīs book called "Quest for a Healthy Heart" that she hopes raises awareness of Cardiovascular Disease. This is a critical health concern, and we're proud of Miss Alabama 2009, Liz Cochran for raising awareness of Cardiovascular Disease!
We wish each participant in the Miss Alabama Pageant success and hope that they will continue to inspire and give back to their communities.
